Lots to catch up on!

I just realized I have not posted anything since Nov 7. YIKES! I have a great...okay maybe not great but an okay excuse for waiting this long. I have started coaching the middle and high school girls basketball team at school. This has been very time consuming. All I want to do when I get home is crash! I hope that you can forgive me.  I will be posting several of the activities from Nov over the next few days. We had many great things happen during that time so I do not want to leave them out.

A couple of weeks ago we went on a field trip to see the play Alice in Wonderland. I only have 1 picture which I took after the play. No cameras aloud during the play!

After the play, we went to Central Park. The kids had a great time while the adults froze.

Another fun field trip! I can't wait until we get to go on the next one. This one will be a special one because the kids will deliver stuffed bears( that they personally stuffed) to the sick children at the hospital!

Pumpkin Day

Don't you just love fall? All the beautiful colors, the fresh breeze and pumpkins!

We cut open a pumpkin so the class could see what it looked like inside. Some were very curious to see what it felt like inside......

others not so much!

They put together a pumpkin book that explained how a pumpkin grows.

My favorite part of the day......making the delicious Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins. I hope your child shared because they are so yummy!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins
Just in case they did not share!

4 eggs
2 c sugar
1 (16 0z.) can pureed pumpkin
1 1/2 c oil
3 c flour
2 ts baking soda
2 ts baking powder
1 ts ground cinnamon
1 ts salt
1 pkg chocolate chips

In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, pumpkin and oil until smooth. Add in the dry ingredients and mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill muffin pan 3/4 full. Bake 16 - 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Makes 24 - 30 muffins.

Tea Party

We have been memorizing a poem called Three Guests. It talks about having a tea party with I, myself and me. What would be more fitting than to have a tea party during class.

At this tea party, the class was told they could bring a guest.

We even learned a few manners at the party!

It was a scrumptious day to share a cup of tea( aka apple juice).

Character Day

Character Day was so much fun that I thought I would share our day with you!

The whole school was asked to dress up like a character from a book.  A few of us teachers dressed up as well!

Miss McCallister was Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus

I was Little Red Riding Hood. I rode my bike from class to class reading the story and sharing the same wheat berry muffins from the book.

Here is our class and their wonderful costumes.

Miss McCallister or myself read each book as each child made his/her book come alive.

Later in the day, we had a character parade for the whole school to see all the book characters.

I hope that your child found a new love for books!
